1 - Awesome Slow Motion Aerial Footage of Motorcycles Flying Through the Air

Ryan Nance July 23, 2012

Using Sony's FS700 attached to a remote controlled helicopter, the CopterKids are able to show of these super slow-mo hi-def sequences.

Just got our hands on our new Sony FS700 and wanted to do a quick test of the super slow motion mode from the air. Results turned out pretty killer. Big thanks to Paul Mudd for letting us play up at his place and for pouring an entire beer on himself so we could see what it looked like in slow motion! Behind the scenes footage by Scott Horn.

2 - Mario snowland

Ryan Nance July 23, 2012

This is like a wonderful, marvelous dream! In Japan, of course, at Kumi Yama.

3 - Football animated with only string

Ryan Nance July 23, 2012

String animation is like gesture drawing, or writing haiku. And here it's about footie, so yay! I must be excited that the English Premier League is starting up soon. And if you are interested I do host a Fantasy.Premierleague.com campaign. Leave a comment and I'll tell you how to join.

A distinct culture and religion as sets the Kaleshi apart from their neighbors in Pakistan Blond hair and blue eyes are common kalash pakistan hindu kush 2.jpeg Most genetic details point to the Kalesh being aboriginal to their Pakistani valley

4 - The Kalesh, a distinctive aboriginal tribe of Pakistan's Hindu Kush

Ryan Nance July 23, 2012

The current cultural and ethnic distribution across Eurasia may give the appearance of inevitablity, but from the Tocharian mummies in western China (read more ) to the Central Asian Alans settling in western France, there is a much more complex and interesting story to discover.

The modern-day Kalesh are a stunning, human testemant to this complexity.

Graphic design and optical illusions come to life in the work of Takahiro Kurashima

Graphic design and optical illusions come to life in the work of Takahiro Kurashima

5 - Poemotion Interactive Book Object

Ryan Nance July 23, 2012

With what seems an elegantly simple set of visual and technical elements, Art Director Takahiro Kurashima creates beautifully striking visual effects.

Poemotion。それは、新しい世界を見る方法。 The way to see a new world. Stillness exists in motion. Motion lives in stillness. Stillness is not the only thing one sees, nor is motion the only thing. In between stillness and motion, a new vision rises. Like in between thoughts and action, one finds a new vision. From a new vision, comes a new force that generates a new world. Poemotion is the way to see a new world. text: Shunsuke Iwai & Woog music: Eisuke Mochizuki movie: Seiji Himura slant.jp/poemotion.html

1 - Within Two Worlds

Ryan Nance July 20, 2012

Timelapse, yeah, still not sick of it. Especially when it captures things like star tracks, which I could never see with just my eyes.

"Within Two Worlds depicts an alternate perspective by giving us the illusion of times movement, signifying a beginning and end within a world of constant contradiction. It appears you are traveling in the midst of a dream, half-sleeping, half-waking, and touching the arch connecting heaven and earth." I discovered my passion for photography shortly after my mother’s passing while hiking the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) 3 years ago. This time-lapse video is my visual representation of how the night sky and landscapes co-exist within a world of contradictions. I hope this connection between heaven and earth inspires you to discover and create your own opportunities, to reach your rightful place within two worlds. Please feel free to share #withintwoworlds! 3 - Seven Wonders of the Ukraine

Ryan Nance July 18, 2012

When I first read of the Scythians in Herodotus' Histories, I had such a hard time placing them in a part of the world today. They were such a mysterious mix of cultures, myths and landscapes. I am not sure how well the Ukraine corresponds to the places and peoples Herodotus describes, but this admixture of the Ancient Greeks, Slavs, Goths, Huns, Vikings and Mongols has a wonderous result. Here are the Seven Wonders of the Ukraine.

4 - Motion-based Music Making

Ryan Nance July 18, 2012

Even if this is prolly a bit of filmmaking whimsy (I suppose I would be impressed if I could see how it really worked as a musical instrument, and not just a suped up gesture macro interface), it makes for a pretty stunning street display. Immersive and exciting.

This project combines the collective talents of musicians, dancers, programmers, designers and animators to create an amazing visual instrument. Creating music through motion is at the heart of this creation and uses the power of the Kinect to capture movement and translate it into music which is performed live and projected on a huge wall. We created and designed the live visual spectacle with a music video being produced from the results. We wanted it to be clear that the technology was real and actually being played live. The interface plays a key role in illustrating the idea of the instrument and we designed it to highlight the audio being controlled by the dancer. Design elements like real time tracking and samples being drawn on as they are played all add to authenticity of the performance. The visuals are all created live and the music video is essentially a real document of the night. http://www.assemblyltd.com/ Check out the tech behind the project here: www.custom-logic.com/blog/v-motion-project-the-instrument/ Developers: Jeff Nusz Paul Sanderson - http://fugitive.co.nz Music: Joel Little Ableton: James Hayday Dancer: Josh Cesan Agency: Colenso BBDO Client: Frucor
