With an average depth of 1.6 to 3.2 feet, Syvash Lake is hyper saliented and super prone to vast smelly and red algae blooms.

Photographer Donald Weber spent 6 years capturing life in Russia and Ukraine. In that time, he was able to convince the Ukrainian police to give him access to their interrogations. The photos that became his book, Interrogations, are bleak, terrifying, intimate and disturbing, especially in light of current Ukrainian events.

One of the things that i see people doing is creating their own photo projects: The same spot from day to day or from morning to night. One of my favorite things is seeing the sky, the sights, the places from around the world.

When I first read of the Scythians in Herodotus' Histories, I had such a hard time placing them in a part of the world today. They were such a mysterious mix of cultures, myths and landscapes. I am not sure how well the Ukraine corresponds to the places and peoples Herodotus describes, but this admixture of the Ancient Greeks, Slavs, Goths, Huns, Vikings and Mongols has a wonderous result.
