We've see the gorgeous blues, whites and greens of Jan Erik Waider's photos before. This set of shots focus on the form of the giant ice structures, putting them in a nearly abstract light.

The dating life in New York City can grow tiresome and wearing. Two good friends with opposite relationship problems found themselves single at the same time. Tim is afraid of commitment, often dating many girls at once, and he’s losing sight of what a healthy relationship means. Jessica is a hopeless romantic, jumping into relationships too quickly, always looking to find “the one.” It’s been said that it takes 40 days to change a bad habit. In an attempt to explore and hopefully overcome their fears and inadequacies, Tim and Jessica will go through the motions of a relationship for the next 40 days: the commitment, time, companionship, joys and frustrations. Can they help each other, or will they fall into their same habits? Will they damage their friendship? What if they fall in love? Follow the story day-by-day, launching July 10th at fortydaysofdating.com
A beautifully crafted 40-day story told by two designer friends who decided to try dating each other.
It is fascinating, excruciating, beautiful, moving, interesting, instructive.

And those of you who know me, know my son's name is Jude.
This summer microdrones' md4-1000 achieved something no other quadcopter had previously done. The unmanned aerial system, which was equipped with the latest GPS technology from u-blox and an HD camera from Sony, conquered the Alps by crossing the Saint-Gotthard Pass connecting Switzerland and Italy.
"Microdone' sounds ominous. These sights are gorgeous. Such is my ambivalence to technology.

The Figurative Heart
by Billy Burgos
We blame the heart so often.
We ask it to bear our guilt like
a wet bag of sand, then to hold
those small boxes of infatuation.
We ask the heart to lie to us
right behind the request to keep
the tune of our spirit playing on.
Yet when it lies, we blame that muscle
for each remembered deception.
At this red hour, with the darkening
city unrolling slowly like a dirty rug,
there is no figurative heart. There is
only this-and-now, the entire machine.
Even the threading of streetlights that
appear to lead off into nothingness eventually
end and come back. The night always brings back.
And maybe another -the heart only
speaks through the juried soul,
that invisible conduit that can bear nothing.
Like faith it is only an assured expectation,
something not-yet-beheld. We cannot
call it a liar, we can only call it god.

Shot in one continuous drone shot, and music recorded live, this Concert A Emporter from La Blogoteque is one of my favorites, and certainly being of Phoenix doesn't hurt none, either.
Gensler teams around the globe spent the last year re-imagining the concept of a Town Square. This video documents the ideas and efforts of Gensler Los Angeles, who used Pershing Square as a case study for how to re-imagine Town Squares in every community. The LA team developed an inclusive, flexible and progressive process, a process that can be custom tailored to public spaces everywhere. During our year long research project, we challenged our own preconceptions about the role of open space. We used computational methods to devise a neutral and nimble design tool that gives equal weight to the ideas of users, citizens, designers and policy makers alike. Pershing Square lies at the confluence of diverse downtown districts. Because of it’s location Pershing Square has the opportunity to knit those diverse districts together. This key position in the city makes Pershing Square an ideal test case for our methods. Our hope is to ignite discourse on how this important historic space, and all public space, can play a role in bringing the inhabitants of a city together and improving the lives of all who pass through.
A lot of the processes and decisions I see being made in this urban planning video are familiar to me from User Experience. Fascinating and beautiful.
