American Beauty
Senegalese photographers Omar Victor Diop and Antoine Tempé have decided to reframe classic images from famous films with the beloved characters and iconic scenes played by African actresses and in a Senegalese settings. Their series, ONOMOllywood, for the Onomo hotel chain, will have 20 in total.
Included in this preview of 8 images are American Beauty, Thelma & Louise, Psycho, Frida, The Matrix, Chicago, Blow Up and Breakfast at Tiffany's.
Married record-holding free divers Christina & Eusebio Saenz de Santamaria explore dive as deeply as one breath will take them. On this excursion, with their Nikon D7000, some natural light, they created these stunning images in the cenotes of the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico.

When famous cartoon characters invade the great works of art we all hold so dear, it results in this excellent mashup series of images from users of Designcrowd.
Austrian photographer Reiner Riedler has photographed the physical rolls of classic movies, using the object as a portal for memory in his project The Unseen Seen.
From the project:
"The concept is to confront the viewer with the image of an object (filmrolls) and in doing so recall images from the spectator’s memory. By reading the movie title, I want to generate emotions and images from our memory.
I got access to the film archive and museum „The Deutsche Kinemathek“ in Berlin through my friend Volkmar Ernst, who works there as a technician. I drew up a list of well-known films and those with unusual titles. I set up a little photostudio inside the cinema of the archive and backlit the film rolls by installing film lights behind the objects, lighting each roll in the same way for continuity. The result was a collection of images of a few hundred filmrolls.
Through the act of collecting and selecting the film rolls I noticed analogies between the colour and the shape of the rolls, and the content of the movies.
Besides the nostalgic connotation concerning the movie itself, there is the nostalgia concerned with the loss of a tradition. This projcet also deals with this loss - „the dying of film“.

"George Dawe was an English portrait artist who painted 329 portraits of Russian generals active during Napoleon's invasion of Russia for the Military Gallery of the Winter Palace, Saint Petersburg, Russia. I'm using digital copies of these paintings as a basis for my own work which involves incorporating celebrities into the paintings using photoshop."
Below the Surface, a website created by the Department of Archaeology; Monuments and Archaeology (MenA), the City of Amsterdam; and their Chief Technology Officer, documents and organizes 19,000 of the nearly 700,000 objects found along the bottom of the Amstel River when it had to be pumped dry during the early 2000s construction of the nearby metro. Some of the objects are from as early as the 14th Century and include wooden dice, engraved belt buckles and lots and lost of pipes.
