5 - Voodoo Child by Jimi Hendrix played on a Gayageum

Voodoo Chile-Jimi Hendrix / Gayageum ver. by Luna Thank you and Happy new year~

Here is Luna Lee playing her version of Jimi Hendrix's Voodoo Child on the gayageum.

Please like this video and suscribe! =) My channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/TotusManus Bye! Français: Salut tout le monde! C'est mon morceaux de rock favoris - Voodoo Child!

From wikipedia:

The gayageum or kayagum is a traditional Korean zither-like string instrument, with 12 strings, although more recently variants have been constructed with 21 or other numbers of strings. It is probably the best known traditional Korean musical instrument.

It is related to other Asian instruments, including the Chinese guzheng, the Japanese koto, the Mongolian yatga, and the Vietnamese đàn tranh.

1 - Aircraft as Art

At the AIPAD Photography Show in New York from April 4 to 7, American photographer Jeffrey Milstein will show a collection from his ongoing ‘AirCraft: The Jet as Art‘ series  2013.

Large-scale photos of the planes shot at the instant when the aircraft was overhead.

“They are an attempt to share my sense of wonder. Watching a mammoth Boeing 747 gracefully gliding overhead on the way to touch down never ceases to amaze me, but they are also a meditation on how technology can be a double-edged sword when things go wrong” says Jeffrey.

We have trekked the circuit around Torres Del Paine in Chile, the Cerro Fitz Roy trip in Argentina and one day on the Glacier Perito Moreno. What a fantastic place, so much space to discover..... Ps: The two guys in the ending is Stefan & Christian, both from Germany. Filmed on Nikon D800 with the 24-70mm 2,8 and the 70-200mm 2,8VR Music: Efterklang- Cutting ice to snow Enjoy

POTD - The Heart of Things by Ralph Angel

The Heart of Things

by Ralph Angel

And so say nothing of the birds
out back, or how the leaves of trees grow louder
than the city, how a room
begins again as though it had been taken away
only. Whatever now
that I’m afraid of, but casually, like someone
sitting crosswise in her chair, her legs
curved over one side, sipping a glass of wine
and spying on her neighbors,
not ill-arranged things really, but that sense
of realism that takes up a lot more time
than I or anyone together
has to give.

And so stayed longer, he said, into the evening
behind the page and out of the cold,
even the dead are free again
to love us as in life a human being
is singled out and standing there, on the curb,
shifting the way we do from
foot to shoeless foot,

and so broke
apart the vision I expected
of myself, confused among those
dozing on the platform, and at home the air
is moist again with tea, but
faintly so, those fragrant several moments
that sound the most like dream,
like dreaming aloud the nightmare
that I alone am still.

I was lucky enough to study with Angel while at the University of Redlands in Southern California.

3 - Foursquare Check-ins for 4 days in Tokyo and NYC

Every day, millions of people check in on Foursquare. We took a year's worth of check-ins in New York City and Tokyo and plotted them on a map. Each dot represents a single check-in, while the straight lines link sequential check-ins. What you can see here represents the power of check-in data -- on Foursquare, every city around the world pulses with activity around places every hour of every day. Related: Also see our data visualization of four days worth of Foursquare check-ins in New York CIty during Hurricane Sandy (and the subsequent power outage) during October 2012: http://vimeo.com/52883962.

Each dot represents a check-in during this 96 hour period. Super fascinating to see the different types of check-ins ripple across the city as time of day effects the rhythm of all of these individuals in a fairly regular pattern.

Trey Ratcliff has a little series where he walks through his process for taking some of his often lauded photos. Here he trudges through an abanodoned amusement park outside of Beijing... creepy and awesome.

And while you're at it, check out his behind the scenes from his shot on the Great Wall below.

WSOTD - How Buildings Learn

This six-part, three-hour, BBC TV series aired in 1997. I presented and co-wrote the series; it was directed by James Muncie, with music by Brian Eno. The series was based on my 1994 book, HOW BUILDINGS LEARN: What Happens After They're Built. The book is still selling well and is used as a text in some college courses.

Stuart Brand's book How Buildings Learn led to his 6-part BBC series (embedded above). This is one I share often. Although about architecture (and I LOVE architecture) its lessons and thoughts are applicable to interaction design, service design and web design. I try to share it with everyone I can. And so I am again.
