3 - Foursquare Check-ins for 4 days in Tokyo and NYC

Every day, millions of people check in on Foursquare. We took a year's worth of check-ins in New York City and Tokyo and plotted them on a map. Each dot represents a single check-in, while the straight lines link sequential check-ins. What you can see here represents the power of check-in data -- on Foursquare, every city around the world pulses with activity around places every hour of every day. Related: Also see our data visualization of four days worth of Foursquare check-ins in New York CIty during Hurricane Sandy (and the subsequent power outage) during October 2012: http://vimeo.com/52883962.

Each dot represents a check-in during this 96 hour period. Super fascinating to see the different types of check-ins ripple across the city as time of day effects the rhythm of all of these individuals in a fairly regular pattern.

Timelapse of Hurricane Sandy over Downtown Manhattan Taken from Brooklyn Heights

Please be sure to watch in HD! Time lapse of the city as the power went for half of Manhattan during Hurricane Sandy. Major Power Outage is at 00:08 Time lapse filmed on Monday 10/29/12. I made this into a bumper for Late Night With Jimmy Fallon so you might have seen it on Tuesdays episode!

On October 29th 2012, Hurricane Sandy made landfall near New York, NY. Starting at 5pm EST, these images were captured overlooking 42nd street and 10th avenue in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan, New York, New York, USA. Over a period of 5h30m, this video was produced as a time lapse taking one image every two seconds. The camera was a Samsung Galaxy Nexus running Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2. The video is 5m19s in length and there is no audio. Follow me on Twitter: twitter.com/glunardi

I captured this by writing a script to grab a copy of the latest image from the webcam NYTimes have pointed out over NYC. Runs from about Noon on the 29th Of October, till about half nine am on the 30th October, 2012.

5 - NYC Timelapse (Complete with Heroic Speech and Music)

Cameras 7D, 5D III Lenses Canon 85mm tilt-shift Tokina 11-16mm Zeiss 35mm Motion-Control Merlin Stargazer with MX2 Controller by Dynamic Perception

I have mixed feelings about laying a speech from Bobby Kennedy over this beautiful timelapse treatment of NYC. It IS stirring and inspiring. My feelings about the music are NOT mixed.

We also have a teaser video which you can watch on my vimeo page (http://vimeo.com/5752275). For more information about the video and our other adventures please contact Andrew Wonder (Director/Cinematographer) at andrewwonder@mac.com. Steve and I just completed another underground expedition with Norwegian explorer Erling Kagge (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erling_Kagge). It was featured in a three page article on the front page of the NY Times metro section and was written by Alan Feuer (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/01/02/nyregion/02underground.html). We were also covered by NPR's Jacki Lyden whose report will be aired on 1/2/11 and posted on NPR's site (http://www.npr.org/2011/01/02/132482428/into-the-tunnels-exploring-the-underside-of-nyc). Shot on a canon 5d mkii with canon 24 f/1.4 (version 1) with the zacuto rapid fire, Zoom H4N and a sennheiser g2 wireless lav. The zacuto was really great at being there when I needed it but also staying out of the way. Please leave a comment below and let me know what you think. Thanks for watching!

4 - The Lincoln Tunnel at 190mph

Former Formula One driver David Coulthard drove the Red Bull Racing Running Show Car through the 1.5 mile Lincoln Tunnel, which connects New York and New Jersey. Coulthard hit incredibly high speeds, no doubt setting the record for the fastest-ever commute through the tunnel.

I haven't driven through the Lincoln Tunnel for about 10 years, and that was in a UHAUL. So, yeah, this is a bit of wish fulfillment.
